Mar-Vell blames Colonel Yon-Rogg for attempting to boost his own career by ambushing The Aakons who attack relentlessly on their flying discs. Soon Mar-Vell’s superior skills give him the upper hand but he wants to finish the fight before they are spotted so as not to jeopardise his mission on Earth. However a police car has been alerted by the noise and Mar-Vell throws a smoke grenade to make his exit as well as shield his foes from the authorities. Elsewhere at Walter Lawson’s hotel, Carol Danvers bribes clerk Jeremy Logan to get access to the doctor’s room. Danvers searches for clues to the scientist’s secrets when Cyberex, Walter Lawson’s deadly creation, breaks through the wall and takes her hostage!Sometime later Mar-Vell, disguised as Lawson, arrives at his hotel to find detectives waiting in his now destroyed room. The detectives say Logan reported a giant metal robot broke through the wall and kidnapped a blonde woman. They ask “Lawson” what the robot was after and he jokes the clerk must have been drunk as no such creature exists. Lawson then pretends to leave for The Cape but the suspicious detectives take him in for questioning. Hours later Lawson is finally released and feels responsible for Carol Danvers’ kidnapping so flies into action as Captain Marvel. While up in the orbiting Kree starship Helion, Yon-Rogg goads Una about Mar-Vell’s affection for the Earth woman. Meanwhile in the real Walter Lawson’s lab, Cyberex tells Danvers that she is bait to lure Walter Lawson to his assassination and Carol is surprised as she assumed the android was Lawson’s own creation. Cyberex states he is unaware of his creator’s identity while Danvers hopes Captain Marvel will come to her rescue. Not far away, the Aakon crew are spotted by Yon-Rogg who purposefully gives away Mar-Vell’s location using his radio transmitter. The Aakon pick up the signal and are able to pinpoint the Captain’s whereabouts. Back at Lawson’s lab, Carol Danvers’ prayers are answered as Captain Marvel appears.The Man of Kree rages battle against his mechanical foe who retaliates with a miniature rocket. The downed Captain Marvel tells Carol Danvers to save herself while he distracts Cyberex but she refuses to leave him to die. Mar-Vell is strangely touched by Carol’s loyalty and provokes his opponent into following him outside where he is greeted by The Aakon. Deciding he has a better chance against the robot, Mar-Vell flies towards Cyberex who ignores him and assaults the yellow skinned aliens instead. The Aakons assume Cyberex must be a weapon of the Kree and strike back, eventually overwhelming the giant. Meantime Captain Marvel hides Carol Danvers in a nearby cave and rejoins the fight. The Aakon attempt to overpower Mar-Vell with sheer numbers but he holds them off with his Uni-Beam until one of them blasts him from behind. Captain Marvel falls to the ground and the victorious Aakon are overjoyed. Their celebrations are short lived however as Cyberex has self repaired and attacks them with renewed aggression. The android destroys the already depleted crew but is then himself the victim of Captain Marvel’s U-Beam. The U-Beam is met in mid air by Cyberex’s own force blast but the superior power of the Kree weapon wins out and the metal giant explodes. The robot again begins to repair itself but this time Captain Marvel destroys its self repair units and Cyberex is completely destroyed. Carol Danvers reappears and affectionately shows her gratitude to Mar-Vell while an observing Una weeps.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/marvel-comics-captain-marvel-9-poor-1207941113.jpg?v=1763775349
yoo-captain-marvel-10
Captain Marvel #10 [POOR]

Grade: POOR

Note: STOCK IMAGE
Issue Number: 10
Release Date: 1969-02-28
Writer:
Artist:

After failing another attempt in proving his worth to the Kree by forging an alliance with the Organization, Ronan orders to have Mar-Vell executed.Die, Traitor!The issue opens in the Florida Everglades where Captain Mar-Vell is facing execution by a Kree firing squad commanded by Yon-Rogg. Una arrives on the scene and knows she is too late to do anything. We then skip back in time to the end of last issue after Mar-Vell’s victory over Cyberex when Carol Danvers thanks him for saving her life with a passionate kiss. The kiss is observed aboard the Helion by Una and Yon-Rogg who coaxes the fires of jealousy. Shortly Mar-Vell returns to the Helion and is informed Ronan wishes to have a video conference with him. During the conference Ronan orders Mar-Vell to get close to the mysterious group called The Organization and their leader Number One as they possess riches and powers that may be of use to the Kree. After receiving his orders Mar-Vell approaches Una who gives him the cold shoulder. The Captain inquires the reason for her attitude and she tells him “If it is a wink and a smile that you seek Captain, perhaps you would do better to find them in your Earth woman!” Yon-Rogg is delighted he has managed to drive the lovers apart and cost Mar-Vell his last influential ally.Meanwhile within the HQ of The Organization, Number One punishes Number 23 for failing to capture Walter Lawson by using an Eon-Ray designed by Lawson himself. The ray ages its victim a lifetime within seconds and Number 23 turns to dust. Outside his hotel Mar-Vell, disguised as Walter Lawson, is picked up by Carol Danvers who apologises for being suspicious of him all this time. Lawson is delighted the two are finally getting acquainted when Carol notices they are being trailed. Mar-Vell recognises the men’s uniform as those of the Organization and pulls Carol out of the moving car just before they’re fired upon by the Eon-Ray. The astonished pair witness the car turn to a rusting relic in front of their eyes before noticing that a nearby bird that was also hit by the ray has been transformed into a prehistoric Pterodactyl. In her rush to escape Carol hits her head and is knocked unconscious. This gives Walter Lawson the chance to turn into Captain Marvel. Using his rockets Mar-Vell chases after the flying reptile and manages to break its neck. On returning he finds Carol missing and a note telling Walter Lawson to come to a certain location.On arriving at the address, Captain Marvel is blindfolded and led in to meet Number One. The Captain tells his captors that he intercepted the message to Lawson and wants to join forces with them. Hearing this Carol Danvers calls him a traitor. Mar-Vell grabs Carol and says he only got close to her because she’s head of security at The Cape but secretly hands her a pellet of nerve gas. Carol is then led away while Number One explains The Organizations plans to Captain Marvel. Suddenly a guard runs in and alerts that Carol has escaped throwing a gas pellet and Mar-Vell admits he aided her. Number One calls his agents and Captain Marvel finds himself heavily outnumbered. Nonetheless the Man of Kree uses his rockets, skills, superior strength and military training to defeat his adversaries after a long battle. But before he can recover, Mar-Vell is shot with the Eon-Ray by Number One!The rapid ageing process immediately begins to take its toll but a weak and feeble Mar-Vell manages to crawl towards Number One and snatch the Eon-Ray from his grasp. Then using his rockets Mar-Vell flies around the corner and reverses the polarity of the gun and turns it on himself, bringing the Kree back to normal age. After changing the gun back to normal and finding Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel shoots every member of the Organization with the Eon-Ray. As Mar-Vell and Carol fly off, even the headquarters of The Organization crumbles to dust from stray Eon-Ray blasts. Meantime on board the Helion, Yon-Rogg informs Ronan of Mar-Vell’s disobedience and the Accuser orders Captain Mar-Vell’s execution! Hearing this Una flies to warn Mar-Vell using her own rockets but she is intercepted by the execution squad. Defeated, Captain Marvel gets even and reveals the Super Skrull's identity and sends him packing back to space.From The Ashes Of Defeat!Last issue saw Captain Marvel defeated by Super Skrull who now takes him back to the Skrull ship for interrogation about his mission on Earth. Meanwhile the timer on Mar-Vell’s cylinder case continues to count down to a nuclear explosion. Super Skrull removes Mar-Vell’s life-giving helmet and straps him into a psycho-probe. The probe extracts Mar-Vell’s thoughts and the Skrull plays them back on a screen. The events of the last few weeks unfold as Super Skrull watches Mar-Vell defeat a Kree Sentry, and wonders why they didn’t team up. While the Skrull’s back is turned Mar-Vell breaks free of his shackles using his Uni-Beam and attacks his captor. Super Skrull falls back into a machine and is electrocuted giving Mar-Vell the chance to regain his helmet and jet away. Super Skrull breaks free and flaming on with the powers of Human Torch gives chase. Mar-Vell thinks The Skrull won’t believe him about the booby trapped cylinder and decides to fly to Earth’s outer atmosphere. Super Skrull gives up chase thinking Mar-Vell will perish in the hostile climate. The Man of Kree then contacts his orbiting star ship but Colonel Yon-Rogg doesn’t respond. Seeing this as an ideal opportunity to rid himself of his rival for Una, the Colonel states they can’t risk exposing themselves to Super Skrull. Nonetheless Mar-Vell manages to track The Helion and get on board, knowing Yon-Rogg’s motives.Meanwhile Super Skrull decides he can save his mission by obtaining Mar-Vell’s lost cylinder as it may hold information on his mission. Yon-Rogg refuses to let the Captain return to Earth and Mar-Vell claims his right to contact the Kree Imperial Minister to let him decide. The Imperial Minister cares not for saving the few Earthlings in danger but allows Mar-Vell to return to avenge his defeat by Super Skrull. Mar-Vell says there is something he needs to do before he goes back. Elsewhere the antagonist retrieves Mar-Vell’s cylinder, shape-shifts into Walter Lawson and enters The Cape where General Bridges pulls him into a meeting with himself and Carol Danvers. Bridges tells “Lawson” about the recent attacks on The Cape and of a green gargoyle’s defeat of Captain Marvel. Danvers mentions Marvel as a hero and Super Skrull wonders whether becoming a hero on Earth was Mar-Vell’s mission. He then asks to examine the Kree Sentry and leaves. Bridges and Danvers wonder why Lawson needed directions to The Sentry he saw only hours ago.Mar-Vell jets back to Earth after learning what he needed to. At The Cape, the fake Walter Lawson heads towards the hangar containing The Sentry when he is suddenly picked up in the air by a swooping Captain Marvel. “Lawson” switches back to Super Skrull and flames on again causing Mar-Vell to release him. At the same time The Skrull drops the cylinder and attacks the antihero who uses his Uni-Beam to douse his flames. Super Skrull stretches down to Earth using Mr. Fantastic’s power and slams Mar-Vell down with the strength of The Thing but the Kree’s battle suit absorbs most of the blow. The Skrull then reaches for a solar mirror to attack Mar-Vell with but Mar-Vell taunts him that his powers are insufficient. Hearing this The Skrull decides to use his power of Super-Hypnosis but Mar-Vell instantly blasts the solar mirror Super Skrull was holding so his hypnotic stare reflects back at himself putting him in a deep trance. The trance causes the alien to obey the first voice he hears and having learned this earlier, Mar-Vell orders him to flee to the farthest reaches of space. Mar-Vell then disarms his cylinder and decides to find Jeremy Logan who has learned Walter Lawson is an impostor.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/marvel-comics-captain-marvel-3-fine-1207935263.jpg?v=1763768037
