Snapper Carr is summoned to the Justice League Sanctuary only to find Dr. Light, who has transported the Justice League to a surreal universe from which they can't escape. Doctor Light uses his powers to beam each member of the JLA to a world that will seal their doom. Aquaman finds himself on a world without water, Green Lantern on an all Yellow planet, Martian Manhunter on a world of fire, Superman on a world with a red sun, etc. How could the members of the JLA possibly escape from these carefully prepared traps. Fortunately for the team, Superman had used his telescopic vision to check why he and Batman were being summoned to the JLA HQ. Seeing Dr Light sending the other JLA members to who knows where, Superman suggested that he and Batman change costumes just in case... and of course it worked. Finding himself on a world designed to contain Batman, Superman rescued the Martian Manhunter and they in turn rescued the other members of the team. Each member of the Justice League is encountered by their super duplicate and are defeated rather easily. These imposters then use their super powers to commit crimes. Warrants are issued for the JLA. Jean Loring represents them and the league maintains their innocence. However, they have no proof so they ask to be exiled from earth. As the JLA leave the planet, an imprisoned Doctor Destiny reads of the events. He gloats over the victory due to a new dreaming device known as the Materiopticon. While the JLA dreamt of super manifestations of themselves, the evil Destiny turned the dream version evil. They were not powerful enough to destroy the Justice League but with each passing day, they would increase in wickedness. While in space the true Justice League compared notes and realized that they all had dreams of super versions of themselves. The Flash then mentions the mysterious letter that they received. Batman kept the letter in his utility belt for future examination. Superman and Martian Manhunter used their vision powers to examine the letter and it revealed a special ink which on exposure to air created a colorless and odorless gas with the property of inducing dreams. The JLA devised a plan to return to earth in order to confront their evil counterparts. They would do this in their civilian identities. The league is defeated again and imprison by "Green Lantern's power ring and submerged deep inside the earth. By combining their willpower to the real GL's power ring, the JLA came back up. Then Wonder Woman explained how she overcame Dr. Light, despite having any control over her body. So the Atom came up with the idea to shrink to invisibility and have the Martian Manhunter use super breath to enter their secret sanctuary. The Atom would then enter their brains and perform a delicate brain operation where each super leaguer could not control bodily motions. The Justice League of America has just ended their weekly meeting. As the Flash prepares to return to Central City, he begins to vanish. Superman, Wonder Woman, the Atom and the Green Lantern desperately attempt to keep the Flash from fading away. The titanic forces in play threaten to tear the Flash apart. The Flash pleads with his teammates to let him go. The Flash is drawn through a rift in space to the Sahara Desert. The Flash materializes next to three men. Before they can react, the Flash immediately subdues two of the men. The third man manages to paralyze the Flash. The three men are revealed to be alien scientists, from the planet Sfarl. Experimenting on the magnetic forces that bind atoms together, the alien scientists found themselves teleported to another world. For five years they were marooned on a barren, ice-covered world. Then, they teleported to another world. And another. And another after that. The aliens learned to survive on each of these worlds, and adapt to the threats presented by each new ecosystem. Encountering alien civilizations, the aliens scientists invented a drug which would allow them to assume the appearance of the native life forms of any given world. Through their research, the alien scientists discovered that as soon as they teleported to a new world, the displaced energy they left behind built to critical mass, destroying the world they just left. The alien scientists have reached out to the Flash, in the hopes that he can resolve the situation, return them to their own world, and save the Earth. The Flash brings in his fellow members of the Justice League of America. The Justice League of America decide to travel with the alien scientists, the next time they teleport away. The alien scientists provide the Justice League of America with the same shapeshifting drug, so that they will blend in with the natives of the next world. The Justice League of America, and the alien scientists become crystalline, on the planet Aralax. The Justice League of America discovers that Aralax is celebrating it's 100,000th year of peace. As soon as the Justice League of America enters the city, a strange mist engulfs the three scientists. Emerging from the mist are two terrible, robot war machines. While the Flash destroys the first of the war machines, Superman keeps the collateral damage, from the epic confrontation, to a minimum. Wonder Woman does the same thing, when the Green Lantern's attack on the second war machine goes awry, threatening to destroy the entire city. The Green Lantern fires the Atom into the war machine, giving the Atom the chance to turn the war machine's weapons against itself. Upon defeating the war machines, the Justice League of America, but not the alien scientists, are teleported to the planet, Kraanal. There, they are confronted by Kraanal's dictator, Kraad, the Conqueror. Kraad reveals that he has been teleporting the alien scientists from world to world, collecting the necessary energy, from each world's destruction, needed to send his armies into their dimension. With his scheme revealed, Kraad disintegrates the Justice League of America. Due to the white dwarf radiation permeating his cellular structure, the Atom proves immune to Kraad's disintegration weapon. Though barely conscious, the Atom manages to use the Green Lantern's power ring, to reintegrate his teammates. The Atom, though, manages to scramble three of the teams's molecules. Superman emerges with the Flash's legs, the Flash emerges with the Green Lantern's legs, and the Green Lantern emerges with Superman's legs. Only Wonder Woman is reintegrated intact. Before the problem can be reversed, the power ring atomizes beneath the power of the disintegrator. Despite their handicaps, the Justice League of America storms Kraad's fortress. After overcoming his bases defenses, the Justice League of America confront Kraad. Wonder Woman uses the Atom's body to block Kraad's disintegration beam. Superman and the Flash apprehend Kraad, while the Green Lantern destroys the disintegration weapon. Using Kraad's technology, the Justice League of America reintegrate the power ring. With their teammates bodies restored to normal, the Justice League of America set about unraveling all of Kraad's machinations. The Flash stops the alien scientists from teleporting off Aralax, while also dissipating the energy build up on Earth, saving the world. Kraad is turned over to the alien scientists, for incarceration.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-25-1195630085.jpg?v=1759275837
sxwu-justice-league-of-america-30
Justice League of America #30

Grade: GOOD
Issue Number: 30
Release Date: N/A
Writer:
Artist:

The Crime Syndicate of America attack the Justice Society of America, in their own headquarters. Having been forewarned of the Crime Syndicate of America's failsafe for victory, the Justice Society of America believe they have the tactical advantage. The Hawkman draws Johnny Quick up to the ceiling. Johnny Quick vibrates his molecules, at super-human speed, into intangibility, passing harmlessly through the ceiling. The Hawkman causes Johnny Quick to fall, but the sinister speedster is quick to recover. Johnny Quick traps the Hawkman in a super-speed vortex. The Hawkman is able to withstand the powerful forces long enough to deliver the knockout blow. With Johnny Quick's defeat, the Hawkman declares victory. Doctor Fate counters Power Ring's attack, carrying their battle outside. The two combatants trade attacks back and forth, each countering the other's move. Ultimately, Doctor Fate wins their duel. With Power Ring's defeat, Doctor Fate declares victory. Doctor Mid-Nite detonates a distortion blackout bomb, at the Owlman's approach. The vapors of the explosive cause the Owlman to perceive Doctor Mid-Nite slightly off from where he actually stands. Doctor Mid-Nite blasts a hole in the floor, in the hopes that the Owlman will stumble into it. The Owlman uses his power of mental domination to draw Doctor Mid-Nite to him. Both adversaries walk into Doctor Mid-Nite's pit. Only Doctor Mid-Nite's reflexes are quick enough to save him. With the Owlman's defeat, Doctor Mid-Nite declares victory. Superwoman attacks the Black Canary. The Black Canary proves too evasive for Superwoman to bind in her magic lasso. The Black Canary hurls a freezing agent down Superwoman's throat, paralyzing her vocal cords. The Black Canary triumphs over Superwoman, using her Martial Arts mastery. The Black Canary binds Superwoman in her own magic lasso. With Superwoman's defeat, the Black Canary declares victory. Ultraman charges the Starman. With a wave of his cosmic rod, the Starman hurls Ultraman into space. The Starman attacks Ultraman with a meteor shower. Ultraman fuses all the meteors into one giant projectile, and hurls it at the Starman. Using his cosmic rod, the Starman reflects the massive stone back at Ultraman, while simultaneously transforming it into a nuclear bomb. The Starman hurls a solar prominence at Ultraman, but Ultraman draws air from Earth's atmosphere up, to dissipate the flames. Ultraman burns the Starman's cosmic rod out of his hand. Ultraman grabs the cosmic rod, only to discover that it is a facsimile made of anti-matter. Ultraman tries to contain the explosive force of the anti-matter rod, but fails. At Ultraman's defeat, the Starman declares victory. The moment each member of the Justice Society of America vocally claimed victory over their opponents, they were all dimensionally shunted to Earth-3. Dazed from the dimensional shift, the Justice Society of America are easily defeated by the Crime Syndicate of America. Having secured their neutral ground, the Crime Syndicate of America draws the Justice League of America to Earth-2. An epic battle ensues. The Justice League of America use teamwork to keep the Crime Syndicate of America from defeating them. The individual members of the Justice League of America square off with their counterparts in the Crime Syndicate of America. Superman tricks Ultraman into drawing too much power from a giant kryptonite meteor, essentially short-circuiting his opponent. The Green Lantern increases the energy of Power Ring's ring, until it is too powerful for Power Ring to control. With all of his will power focused on operating his ring constructs, Power Ring leaves himself open to the Green Lantern's knockout punch. Wonder Woman allows Superwoman to take possesion of her Lasso of Truth. Superwoman finds she cannot control both her magic lasso, and Wonder Woman's. While vainly trying to get control of the two magic lariats, Superwoman is beaten into unconsciousness by Wonder Woman. The Flash chases Johnny Quick. By forcing Johnny Quick to run faster, and faster, and still faster, the Flash exhausts Johnny Quick to the point of collapse. After serving as a punching bag for the Owlman, the Batman turns the tables on his counterpart, and beats the Owlman down. With the Crime Syndicate of America defeated, the Justice League of America consider what to do with them. The thought of being returned to Earth-3 fills the Crime Syndicate of America with disappointment. The thought of being incarcerated on either Earth-1, or Earth-2, fills the Crime Syndicate of America with terror. Green Lantern interrogates the Crime Syndicate of America, and discovers that the prison holding the Justice Society of America has been booby trapped. The moment the Justice Society of America is released, Earth-1 and Earth-2 will be, simultaneously, destroyed. After disabling the booby trap, the Justice Society of America is freed. An airplane, carrying mail to the Justice League of America, crashes. Two years later, the lost mail is finally delivered to the Justice League of America. Though the cases are cold, the Justice League of America decide to investigate them anyway. The Flash meets with Professor Andrew Zagarian, on a remote island. Two years ago, Zagarian accidentally brought to life a rampaging creature, that he called "The Shaggy Man", composed of a new material, called "Plastalloy". The Shaggy Man, attracted to motion, destroyed Zagarian's laboratory. Zagarian sent a message of distress to the Justice League of America. Finally giving up on the Justice League of America, Zagarian went after the Shaggy Man himself. Zagarian set a trap for the Shaggy Man. The Shaggy Man was lured into a cavern, where vats of molten iron were poured over the creature, completely encasing it. Powerful electromagnets paralyzed the iron-infused monstrosity. Zagarian then sealed the Shaggy Man inside the cavern. The Flash's super-speed vibrations inadvertently release the Shaggy Man from it's tomb. The Green Arrow fires a stun arrow at the Shaggy Man, to no effect. The Green Arrow then blows the Shaggy Man to pieces, with an explosive-tipped arrow. The Shaggy Man regenerates it's entire body, and resumes it's attack. The Flash lures the Shaggy Man back into Zagarian's trap, only to learn that the Shaggy Man is adaptive, and cannot be trapped the same way twice. The Hawkman attacks the Shaggy Man, to draw the creature away from the Flash. While the Hawkman is able to keep the Shaggy Man occupied, the Justice League of America is at a loss to determine a way to defeat the Shaggy Man. The other half of the Justice League of America travels to Chile, to search for a missing astronomer, Abner Michaels. The Justice League of America find Michaels being held prisoner by a giant, tentacled monstrosity. Michaels reveals that the creature once orbited the Earth, as a second moon. Drawn down to the surface by Earth's gravity, the creature broke apart, landing across South America. Michaels had gathered many of it's pieces together, not realizing that the meteors were part of a larger, sentient horror. Soon, the alien monster was large enough to telekinetically draw all of it's disparate parts together. The terrifying creature then began feeding on the very elements that make up the Earth itself. The Justice League of America battle the tentacled nightmare, but prove unable to actually defeat it. The Flash fashions an indestructible mirror, then leads the Shaggy Man to it. Seeing it's reflection, the Shaggy Man immediately begins attacking it. The Flash returns to the Secret Sanctuary, and learns of the search for the missing astronomer. Traveling to Chile, the Flash finds his teammates in defeat. The Flash shatters the mirror, removing the Shaggy Man's "adversary". The Flash lures the Shaggy Man to the Arrowplane, then remote flies the Shaggy Man to Chile. Upon seeing the writhing tentacles of the giant "lunar" creature, the Shaggy Man attacks. The Justice League of America observe the Shaggy Man's epic battle against Michaels' "lost moon". The Hawkman and the Green Arrow arrive with a second, unactivated Shaggy Man. The Flash and Wonder Woman dig an enormous, and very deep, pit. The Shaggy Man shatters the "lunar" creature back into meteor fragments. The Atom guides the alien's core into the pit, making sure the Shaggy Man follows. After the Flash and Wonder Woman exit the pit, the second Shaggy Man is dropped in, and activated. The two Shaggy Men begin fighting. As the alien creature regenerates, the Shaggy Men turn away from each other, to attack it again. As soon as the creature is reduced to fragments, the Shaggy Men resume their combat with each other. Having finished a tour of duty in Vietnam, Sergeant Eddie Brent is returning to a hero's welcome, in Gotham City. Upon arrival at the station, the train conductor wildly claims that Brent robbed the train. Brent's family is crestfallen. Millionaire philanthropist, Bruce Wayne, and his young ward, Dick Grayson, investigate the crime, as the Batman and Robin. The Batman and Robin track Brent back to an abandoned manse, on the Gotham River. Brandishing futuristic weaponry, Brent manages to subdue the Caped Crusaders. Brent is revealed to be under the sway of the Lord Of Time. The Lord of Time tasks Brent with retrieving a time lock and an ageless fossil. The Lord Of Time bestows upon Brent the power to overcome the Justice League of America, should they interfere in Brent's thefts. Having learned of the Lord of Time's involvement in the case, the Batman summons the Justice League of America. Though not a member, Robin insists on staying on the case. Wonder Woman, the Batman and Robin confront Brent, at the Gotham City Bank. The Batman lands a haymaker blow on Brent's face, but it is the Boy Wonder who takes the hit. Wonder Woman binds Brent with her Lasso of Truth, only to find herself bound instead. No matter what fighting tactic the heroes use against Brent, their attacks are always turned back against them. Brent uses one of the Lord of Time's weapons to physically take over Wonder Woman's body, forcing her to battle against the Dynamic Duo. Noticing a sparking aura around the Amazon Princess, the Caped Crusaders grab Wonder Woman, and hurl her into Brent, finally landing a blow on him. Brent counters with a weapon that cancels gravity's hold on the heroes, leaving them bobbing about on the ceiling, while Brent escapes with the time lock. At the museum, Aquaman takes the ageless fossil, and hides it beneath the sea. Brent teleports into the museum, only to be confronted by the Green Arrow and the Flash. The Flash speeds up the Green Arrow's attacks, so that the arrows are hitting Brent too swiftly for his defensive aura to protect him. Brent counters with a weapon that attracts all the other relics, housed in the museum, to the Flash and the Green Arrow. Brent confronts Aquaman. The Sea King commands electric eels to attack Brent. The marine creatures' electric assault is transferred to Aquaman. On the verge of unconsciousness, Aquaman commands a giant crab to grab Brent in it's claw. Brent counters with a weapon that transmutes the crustacean's claw into soft putty. The Justice League of America re-assembles. The Batman tracks the unique radiation, emitted by the ageless fossil, back to the Lord of Time's lair. The Justice League of America storm the Lord Of Time's operations center. The Lord of Time fires on the Justice League of America. Brent leaps in the way, taking the deadly shot in their stead. The Justice League of America, and Robin, the Boy Wonder mercilessly beat the Lord Of Time into unconsciousness. Brent had hoped that the defensive aura the Lord of Time had given him would turn the Lord of Time's weapon back on him. Throughout his encounters with the Justice League of America, however, the defensive aura was gradually losing strength. There was just as good a chance that Brent would have been killed outright by the Lord of Time's weapon. The Justice League of America is impressed with Brent's heroic sacrifice. Zatanna thanks the assembled heroes for their help in successfully locating her father, Zatara. Though each of the heroes, save for the Batman, had assisted Zatanna, individually, in the past, Zatara had not yet been found. Zatanna tells the tale. Still on a quest to locate her father, Zatanna discovered the Sword of Paracelsus, at an antique shop in Vienna. Sensing Zatara's mystic aura on the Sword of Paracelsus, Zatanna discovered a spirit, Allura, trapped within the sword. After gathering the proper mystic artifacts for the ritual, Zatanna released Allura from the Sword of Paracelsus. Allura inhabited Zatanna's body, transporting her to the land of Kharma. Upon arrival, Zatanna was immediately attacked by a horde of Belphagor beast-men. Unbeknownst to Zatanna, her every spell was being countered by her own father, Zatara. Zatanna conjured forth mystical duplicates of the Atom, the Green Lantern, and the Hawkman, to aid her in the fight against the beast-men of Belphagor. With the heroes triumphant, Zatara summoned his nemesis, Amen-Hotep, to aid in keeping Zatanna from ever finding Zatara. Amen-Hotep confronted the four heroes, conjuring forth mythical Egyptian menaces to battle against them. With the heroes on the verge of defeat, Zatanna conjured forth mystical duplicates of the Batman and the Elongated Man, to aid in the fight. With the heroes on the verge of victory, the Batman suddenly had a revelation. The Batman deduced that a mystic ritual was in play, based on the presence of bells, parchment and a candle. The Batman convinced the Justice League of America, and the Elongated Man, to cease hostilities, and allow their foes to take Zatanna. The spirit of Allura was exorcised from Zatanna's body, and forced to confront her benevolent twin. After an epic battle, the good Allura triumphed over her evil twin. Allura forces her evil twin to recant a curse placed on Zatara. Only then does Zatara reveal himself to his daughter, Zatanna. Allura's curse would have slain both Zatanna and Zatara, should they ever lay eyes upon one another again. To prevent such a terrible fate, Zatara removed himself from the Earthly realm, to take up residence in Kharma. Zatara enlisted the aid of the benevolent Allura, then left clues to lead Zatanna to Kharma, where the two Alluras would be forced to face one another. That question is answered in this issue. Snapper Carr reveals the whereabouts of five members of the Justice League of America, during a recent case. The Hawkman and the Hawkgirl closed on the secret lair of Faceless. The Hawkman went after Faceless, while the Hawkgirl dealt with Faceless' minions. Faceless proved to be far more formidable than the Hawkman had anticipated. After tearing the Hawkman's mace in half, Faceless attempted to crush the Hawkman's head between the two halves. The Hawkman just managed to dodge the attack. When the two halves of the mace were struck together, the sparks ignited the Hawkman's wings. Suddenly, the tide of the battle turned, as the Hawkman was finally able to beat Faceless unconscious. Faceless was revealed to be J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter from Mars. The Martian Manhunter had tried to infiltrate Faceless' gang, by posing as Faceless. The tables were turned though, when Faceless fired an energy bolt at J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter from Mars, that caused him to believe he truly was Faceless. The Hawkman and J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter from Mars, teamed up to thwart Faceless' crime wave. As they mop up the last of Faceless' gang, the two heroes see the Green Lantern coming towards them. The Green Lantern had been charging his ring, when he noticed that energy was being siphoned from his power battery. The Green Lantern followed the energy trail to a farmhouse. The family within the farmhouse were under attack by a giant, vicious dog. When the Green Lantern attempted to subdue the dog, he found that his ring energy only increased the canine's size and ferocity. Thus, the Green Lantern was forced to fight the giant, raging beast without the use of his power ring. Realizing that the power battery charged dog would be vulnerable to the color yellow, the Green Lantern coated his fists in yellow paint, then beat the dog into unconsciousness. The Green Lantern resumed his trace of the stolen power battery energy, bringing him to the Hawkman and J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter from Mars. The three heroes surmised that Faceless somehow tapped into the energy of the power battery, and used it to convince the Martian Manhunter that he was Faceless. During the most recent Justice League of America case, the Atom was absent, due to his solving a case in the 18th Century. Superman and the Batman tracked a strange energy signature to two enormous cube creatures, destroying a skyscraper. Superman and the Batman engaged the cube creatures in combat. During the course of the battle, Superman and the Batman were able to ferret out the cube creature's weakness, an achilles toe, and defeat them. At the Fortress of Solitude, Superman is pulled into the cube creatures' dimension. The cube creatures intended to study Superman, so that they could build an android army of Supermen to invade the Earth. To test his invulnerability, the cube creatures struck Superman with a large wooden stick, nearly killing him. The green sun of the cube creatures' world had robbed Superman of his powers. Superman convinced the cube creatures to give him certain raw materials, so that he might better explain how his invulnerability works. Superman fashioned a large lens to filter out the green sun's radiation, restoring his powers. Superman then beat the living daylights out of the cube creatures. With all their cases wrapped up, the Atom, the Green Lantern, the Hawkman, J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter from Mars, and Superman were finally free to answer the latest emergency summons from the Justice League of America. Shiera Hall informs the Hawkman that an ancient coin has been stolen, and replaced with a duplicate. The Hawkman scans the coin for radiation, but there isn't enough to run a trace. The Hawkman departs for his regular Justice League of America meeting. The Green Arrow talks about his latest adventure. In trying to take down a gang of crooks, the Green Arrow discovered that his trick arrows had been replaced with ordinary arrows. The switch did not stop the Green Arrow from subduing the crooks. Wonder Woman recounts a similar tale. In trying to take down a gang of crooks, Wonder Woman discovered that her Lasso of Truth had been replaced by an ordinary rope. The switch did not stop Wonder Woman from subduing the crooks. Fearing that his own gear may have also been stolen, the Batman checks his utility belt. Sure enough, it's been replaced with a fake. The Flash and Superman gather a large number of fake treasures substituted for the real antiquities to cover their theft. Hawkman is able to measure a large enough radiation reading, from the gathered objects, to track the radiation back to it's source. The Batman, the Green Arrow, the Hawkman, and Wonder Woman storm the master thief's lair. Using a device to animate matter, the criminal mastermind brings several statues to life, to battle against the Justice League of America. Wonder Woman is attacked by the statue of the Doodang, a creature pulled from storybooks. Wonder Woman hurls the Doodang into a crevasse, imprisoning it. The Hawkman is attacked by the statue of the Monster of Leeds, a legendary creature said to have terrorized New Jersey. The Hawkman impales the Monster of Leeds on a pair of stalagmites. The Green Arrow is attacked by the statue of the Ring-Tailed Roarer, a half-horse, half-alligator monster from folklore. The Green Arrow repels the Ring-Tailed Roarer with fire. The Batman is attacked by the statues of Paul Bunyan, and his blue ox, Babe, American folklore figures. Using evasive maneuvers and martial arts, the Batman destroys the two statues. The Justice League of America chase down the master thief, and bring him to jusitce. Back at the Secret Sanctuary, the Batman, the Green Arrow, the Hawkman, and Wonder Woman all suddenly collapse into unconsciousness, while turning invisible. The weapon retrieved from the master thief proves to be little more than junk. The Atom, the Flash and Superman call on Hall for assistance. After providing the Justice League of America with another radiation tracer, Hall joins them on the case, as the Hawkgirl. Unbeknownst to the Justice League of America, Johnny Marbles intercepted the master thief, before the team could get to him, and replaced the thief's weapon with a prop. It is further revealed that Marbles is actually the one behind the thefts of the Justice League of America's gear, to put them on the hunt for the master thief. With the Justice League of America doing all the legwork, all Marbles had to do was follow the team, to get his hands on the master thief's technology. The Atom, the Flash, the Hawkgirl and Superman storm Marbles lair. Marbles immobilizes them, with the master thief's weapon. Marbles sets the weapon to teleport all of the gold in Fort Knox, into Marbles' lair. Suddenly, the Hawkgirl's mace lashes out, disarming Marbles. The Hawkgirl subdues Marbles, and his minions. The radiation tracer the Hawkgirl was using to find Marbles, also absorbed the radiation from the master thief's weapon, neutralizing her immobility. Using the master thief's weapon, the radiation is neutralized from the affected members of the Justice League of America's bodies, restoring them to normal.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-53-1195630079.jpg?v=1759275720
2zm-justice-league-of-america-54
Justice League of America #54

Grade: GOOD
Issue Number: 54
Release Date: N/A
Writer:
Artist:

The Royal Flush Gang are back in a rematch with the Justice League!
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-54-1195630078.jpg?v=1759275718
7sf8-justice-league-of-america-55
Justice League of America #55

Grade: VG
Issue Number: 55
Release Date: N/A
Writer:
Artist:

Facing a firing squad, How Chu is about to be executed for his crimes, when a black sphere descends from the sky, and imbues How Chu with astonishing power. At that same moment, in Chicago, a black sphere descends upon stenographer, Claire Morton, influencing her to rob a jewelry store. Meanwhile, in London, yet another black sphere descends upon business magnate, Horace Rowland, influencing him to rob a bank. A fourth, and final, black sphere enters into the body of Marty Baxter, a former baseball player. Baxter immediately begins destroying Shore Stadium, disrupting the baseball game he had been watching. In the days that follow, all four individuals embark on a campaign of crime, each adopting a costumed identity to suit their criminal inclination. The Justice Society of America convenes an emergency meeting to discuss and deal with the threat. Their first order of business, however, is to induct Robin into their august body. Splitting up into four teams, the Justice Society of America heads out to confront their new nemeses. Robin and Wildcat travel to Cortez Stadium, in Mexico. The two heroes rush Baxter, now calling himself the Smashing Sportsman, who is in the midst of destroying the stadium. Transformed by the black sphere, Baxter is a veritable superman. Despite their great fighting prowess, Wildcat and Robin are no match for the Smashing Sportsman, and suffer a brutal beating at his hands. Already unconscious, the Smashing Sportsman uses their bodies as human clubs and battering rams, continuing in his mission to destroy Cortez Stadium. In Chicago, Wonder Woman confronts Claire Morton, now calling herself Gem Girl, in the midst of looting the city museum. Gem Girl focuses her black sphere power through pearls to animate the skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus. It's fossilized jaws, though, prove unable to hold the Amazon Princess for long. Wonder Woman encircles Gem Girl with her golden lariat. This time, Gem Girl focuses her power through a diamond. The rope shatters into pieces, that then bombard the Amazon Princess in a hail of steel-like bars. Focusing her power next through an amethyst, Gem Girl beats the living daylight out of Wonder Woman. On the verge of unconsciousness, she makes one last valiant effort to take Gem Girl down, only to receive another terrible beating. The Amazon Princess lies broken and battered on the cold museum floor, as Gem Girl finishes robbing the African jewel exhibit. Halfway across the world, in London, Hawkman and Mr. Terrific are on hand to try to thwart a bank robbery, perpetrated by Horace Rowland, now calling himself the Money Master. Mr. Terrific nearly breaks his hand on Rowland's jaw, when Rowland absorbs the properties of marble to weather the punch. Absorbing electrical energy from a wall clock, the Money Master charges himself with direct current, that locks Hawkman's grip on him. Mr. Terrific breaks the circuit by hurling a lamp at the Money Master, knocking him into the vault. The Money Master pelts the two heroes with a barrage of coins, before dropping a chandelier on them, ending the fight. Hourman encounters How Chu, on the road between Lanchow and Kashgar, indulging in a bit of highway robbery. How Chu hurls a spear at Hourman that emits a solid light barrier. Crashing into it, Hourman is knocked off his feet. Quick to recover, Hourman hurls the very vehicle, that How Chu had pulled over to rob, at his opponent, then lands a devastating upper cut to the Chinese bandit. How Chu allows the force of Hourman's blow to carry him into the air, then draws his sword and dives upon the cowled hero. Hourman shatters the blade with his forearm. How Chu conjures a powerful whirlwind that forms around Hourman and drives the Man of the Hour into the ground. Utterly defeated, the Justice Society of America returns to their headquarters, to find Johnny Thunder waiting for them. After hearing the team's sorry tale, Johnny Thunder summons the Thunderbolt, and sends it to apprehend the four super criminals. A half hour later, the Thunderbolt returns, as battered and beaten as his teammates. Johnny Thunder next sends the Thunderbolt to collect the members of the Justice League of America, in the hopes that they can succeed where the Justice Society of America failed. The Thunderbolt returns with Superman, the Green Arrow, the Green Lantern, and the Flash. As it turns out, they, too, have just suffered a crushing defeat, at the hands of criminals very much like the ones the Justice Society of America has been battling. The Thunderbolt explains the alien nature of the black spheres to the two teams. An alien consciousness resides within the spheres, though, for the moment, it is dormant. The gathered heroes agree to team up to tackle the crisis, but Robin wonders if even their combined power will be enough to stop the four criminals before the aliens within them awaken.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-55-1195630077.jpg?v=1759275715
dhf-justice-league-of-america-56
Justice League of America #56

Grade: GOOD
Issue Number: 56
Release Date: N/A
Writer:
Artist:

On Earth-2, four black spheres have given four disparate individuals super-human powers, while also turning them evil. Johnny Thunder's magic Thunderbolt was next tasked with bringing these villains to justice, but also failed. The Justice Society of America summoned the Justice League of America, to Earth-2, to aid in the case. The Justice League Of America, however, had dealt with the exact same problem on Earth-1, and also met with defeat. The Justice Society of America, and the Justice League of America, discuss a strategy to defeat the four villains. The Golden Age Robin suggests fighting fire with fire. The Green Lantern, and Superman, locate the radiation signatures of the black spheres. The Flash, and the Golden Age Wonder Woman, then collect the trace amounts of radioactive material. The Flash, the Green Lantern, the Hourman, and the Golden Age Wonder Woman are bathed in the radiation of the black spheres. The Justice Society of America, and the Justice League of America, split into four teams, to take down the four super-villains. The Hourman tunnels underground, then comes back up swinging. The Hourman savagely beats Superman. Realizing that the Hourman grabbed chunks of kryptonite, from underground, the Golden Age Robin forces the Hourman to release them. The Golden Age Robin battles the Hourman, giving Superman time to recover. The Hourman races for the Tiber River. When the ultra-powerful Hourman opts to dodge the Golden Age Robin's attack, the Teen Wonder takes a gamble, and tackles the Hourman. Both combatants fall into the Tiber River. The Hourman begins drowning the Golden Age Robin. Superman attacks the Hourman. Superman realizes that the Hourman is rapidly weakening underwater. Superman subdues the Hourman, having discovered that water neutralizes the black sphere radiation. The Flash, the Green Arrow, and the Golden Age Hawkman pursue How Chu. As feared, the black sphere radiation turns the Flash evil. The Flash attacks the Green Arrow, and the Golden Age Hawkman. A pitched battle ensues. Strangely, the Flash takes a risky course of action, to avoid running into a field of wisteria. The Green Arrow fires an explosive arrow into the wisteria field, while the the Golden Age Hawkman fans the flowers at the Flash. The Flash suffers a terrible allergic reaction to the wisteria, and collapses. Another neutralizing agent for the black sphere radiation has been discovered. The Green Lantern, Mister Terrific, and the Wildcat pursue Horace Rowland, the Money Master. As feared, the black sphere radiation turns the Green Lantern evil. The Green Lantern attacks Mister Terrific, and the Wildcat. A pitched battle ensues. When a stray branch strikes the Green Lantern down, Mister Terrific realizes that wood neutralizes the black sphere radiation. To be certain, Mister Terrific, and Wildcat, beat the Green Lantern with wooden sticks. Johnny Thunder, the Thunderbolt, and the Golden Age Wonder Woman pursue Claire Morton, the Gem Girl. As feared, the black sphere radiation turns the Golden Age Wonder Woman evil. The Golden Age Wonder Woman punches Johnny Thunder off of the Thunderbolt. While the Thunderbolt is busy saving Johnny Thunder, the Golden Age Wonder Woman goes after the Gem Girl alone. The Golden Age Wonder Woman attempts to thwart the Gem Girl, by stealing the moonstone herself. When Johnny Thunder intervenes, the Golden Age Wonder Woman punches Johnny Thunder into unconsciousness. The Golden Age Wonder Woman lassoes the Gem Girl, and hurls her across the room. The Gem Girl shatters a water fountain, which revives Johnny Thunder. Johnny Thunder orders the Thunderbolt to subdue the Golden Age Wonder Woman. The Thunderbolt's mystic powers, however, are repelled by the black sphere radiation.Inexplicably, Johnny Thunder decides to tell a joke. Astonishingly, the Golden Age Wonder Woman begins laughing. Johnny Thunder hits the Golden Age Wonder Woman with joke, after joke, after joke. Amazingly, laughter also neutralizes the black sphere radiation. Johnny Thunder subdues the Gem Girl, How Chu, the Money Master, and the Smashing Sportsman with jokes. The Thunderbolt removes the black sphere radiation from the four super-villians. The Justice Society of America, and the Justice League of America, arrive, carrying large quantities of water, wisteria, and wood. Winged Warriors Of The Immortal Queen! Aquaman, the Hawkman, J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, and Wonder Woman are all paralyzed. At the same moment, the Atom grows a pair of bee wings, then flies off to answer the Queen Bee's summons. The Queen Bee makes an adjustment to her magno-nuclear rod, to correct for it's failing to transform the other four Justice League of America members into her drones. The Batgirl sees the Batman shrink down and transform into a drone. The Batgirl pursues the Batman. The Batman, the Flash, the Green Arrow, the Green Lantern, and Superman all report to the Queen Bee. The Queen Bee reveals that she found a way around the Green Lantern's failsafes, and has consumed the elixir of immortality. The Queen Bee then incorporated Per Kazz's technological advancements into her magno-nuclear rod. Unfortunately, a side effect of the elixir of immortality threatens to leave the Queen Bee immobile for eternity. The Queen Bee is alerted to the Batgirl's presence. The Queen Bee unleashes the Justice League of America drones on the Batgirl. Though she fights back valiantly, the Batgirl is overwhelmed by the Justice League of America drones. In defeat, the Batgirl, too, is shrank and transformed into a drone. The Queen Bee tasks the Justice League of America, and the Batgirl, with retrieving three items, from three alien worlds. Used in unison, these items will restore the Queen Bee's mortality. The Atom and the Green Lantern are sent to the planet, Gram, to retrieve the Urn of Irrilium. Removal of the Urn of Irrilium from the surface of Gram, however, will destroy the planet. The Atom and the Green Lantern encounter heavy resistance on Gram. While the Atom makes off with the Urn of Irrilium, the Green Lantern uses his power ring to stabilize the planet. The Green Lantern collapses into unconsciousness, from the herculean exertion of his will power, to stabilize Gram's planetary core. Superman and the Flash are sent to the planet, Ishthan, to retrieve the Thermosolar Sphere. The Thermosolar Sphere automatically evades their every attempt to lay hands upon it. Superman, and the Flash, are able to maneuver the Thermosolar Sphere into a cluster of rocks, where it becomes lodged. Superman then collects the Thermosolar Sphere. The Batgirl, the Batman, and the Green Arrow are sent to the planet, Peremunda, to collect radioactive lake water. While attempting to fill their flasks, the three heroes are attacked by sentient trees. The Green Arrow uses a jet arrow to aid in his, and the Batgirl's, escape. The Batman threatens to evaporate the lake if the trees don't cease all hostilities. The Green Arrow seeds the clouds with silver nitrate, then triggers a thunder storm. The grateful trees allow the three heroes to depart in peace. Upon their return, the Justice League of America, and the Batgirl, discover that the Queen Bee has already succumbed to paralysis. The Flash and the Green Lantern attempt to steal the Queen Bee's magno-nuclear rod, only to find it protected by a force field. The radioactive lake water of Peremunda is poured into the Urn of Illirium. The Thermosolar Sphere is then placed into the Urn of Illirium, as well. Superman forces the Queen Bee to drink the elixir, restoring her mortality. Realizing the Queen Bee has no intention of ever releasing them from her sway, the Atom grows to his full height, revealing his secret identity, that of physicist, Ray Palmer. No longer under the Queen Bee's domination, Palmer takes the magno-nuclear rod away from her. The magno-nuclear rod was keyed to the Queen Bee's immortality, and thus will no longer work for her. Palmer restores the Justice League of America, and the Batgirl, to normalcy. Palmer then uses the magno-nuclear rod to immobilize the Queen Bee, for the rest of her mortal life. The Green Lantern attempts to probe the magno-nuclear rod, with his power ring, to determine how Per Kazz overcame the ring energy's weakness to yellow. This action causes the magno-nuclear rod to blow up in the Green Lantern's face. The Seeing-Eye Humans! This story was originally published in Strange Adventures #38 (November, 1953). J'onn J'onzz goes with them-and leaves the League! The Martian Manhunter leaves the JLA in this story entitled, "And So My World Ends!" The story begins as Diana Prince (formerly Wonder Woman - but who has now lost her powers and is on leave of absence from the JLA since #69) and her mentor Ching are visiting a local carnival. Suddenly a man in overcoat and hat goes berserk, knocking over the fire eater show. Diana uses her martial arts to attack the man, but he brushes her aside effortlessly. Still in posession of her JLA signal device, the former Amazonian calls for help. In no time it arrives in the shape of Batman and Green Arrow. Thier orthodox efforts meet the same end as Diana's until Green Arrow sends a phospherent arrow, the head of which bursts into flame. At that moment the man sinks to his knees, and Batman removes the man's hat to reveal none other than the Martian Manhunter! Back at JLA HQ, Jonn tells the story of his homeworld. Before being called to earth in the accidental experiment that began his super-heroic career, Jonn Jonzz was a Military Scientist on Mars, where he directed the forces of the Desert Dwellers in a Civil War against the Pole Dwellers led by Commander Blanx. Both sides were struggling for control of the Blue Flame - the only source of heat on Mars: Jonn to use if for good purposes, Blanx for evil. Blanx and Jonn met face to face in hand to hand battle, only for Blanx to double cross Jonn and have henchmen waiting for him. The victorious Blanx ordered Jonn to be exiled for 13 years and at this point the Martian Manhunter was teleported to earth. His time of exile recently elapsed, Jonn returned to Mars to find a landscape of charred ruins - a once mighty civilisation had been destroyed. Jonn discovered that Blanx had found a way to get the Blue Flame to burst its bonds - therefore allowing it slowly engulf the whole of the planet Mars! Jonn tried to lead his people in building a space craft to fly themselves to safety. Returning to earth to find some helpful materials, he suddenly felt a stabbing pain in the brain, causing him to run amok. The JLA agree to go to Mars with Jonn and Green Lantern provides transportation. Just before they arrive, they encounter a hostile alien spaceship, which bathes them in a burst of radiation. Only Green Arrow remains conscious - because he was shielded by Superman - and the emerald archer uses his skills to fire a shaft into a nearby satellite and pull himself and Superman to safety. The Man of Steel then rescues the other Leaguers. Superman and Green Lantern try to stop the Blue Flame from spreading while the rest of the JLA try to find a way into the alien spacecraft. The shrinking and vibratory skills respectively of the duo do the trick. The stunned aliens are soon over come by the JLA pair, and the Atom opens the portal to allow the rest of the League inside. In no time, the JLA have taken total control of the spacecraft, but the one person they really want - Commander Blanx - has departed in an auxillary rocket. Superman and Green Lantern deduce that the only way to stop the Blue Flame from spreading is to digout the section of the planet that is burning and throw it into deep space. Their mission accomplished, the two heroes are relieved to see the rocket designed by the Martian Manhhunter set off and carry at least some of his people to safety. Martian Manhunter then follows Blanx to the surface of the planet in what both men know will be a battle to the death. Blanx tells jonn that he made a deal with an alien race whereby they would buy Mars for its mineral wealth - but only if the whole race (apart from Blanx) were destroyed. As the two natives from Mars slug it out, Jonn hurls a huge boulder at his opponent, delivering a fatal blow. The JLA try to comfort their distraught comrade by telling him that some of his people escaped in the rocket he designed. Although they try to persuade him to return with them, the Martian Manhunter feels he must find his people and help them make a new start. Thus, the JLA and the Martian Manhunter bid one another farewell.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-71-1195630073.jpg?v=1759275604
i7t-justice-league-of-america-73
Justice League of America #73

Grade: VG
Issue Number: 73
Release Date: N/A
Writer:
Artist:

This issue features the first appearance of the Earth-2 Superman and Earth-2 Wonder Woman. In the secret sanctuary of the Justice League, we find the Red Tornado (who helped the team last issue against the Chthoric demons) explaining why he has come to Earth 1 from his native Earth - 2. It begins with Ted (Starman) Knight observing some strange movements in the heavens and going to investigate as Starman. Slowly taking shape, the being Aquarius grabs Starman's cosmic rod and drops the hero from a great height. A wounded Starman is tended by Dinah (Black Canary) Lance and her husband Larry. Without warning, as Black Canary investigates what is going on, she is attacked from behind by her husband Larry, who has no recollection of doing so. Black Canary sends out the JSA emergency signal. On his way to respond, Green Lantern encounters living advertisements, whom he has to waste precious time battling, while Doctor Mid-nite encounters a super powered child. The boy, once overcome by a blackout bomb, has no recollection of what happened. Meanwhile Doctor Fate is heading for Black Canary, when he comes under attack from Evil emanations that seem to stem from a raincloud overhead. Suddenly Doctor Fate finds himself engulfed by raindrops of fire. Battling with his astral bolts to the best of his ability, Dr Fate is forced backwards by the power of Aquarius until he lands at the feet of the other JSA members. Aquarius plans to bring chaos and destruction to Earth-2 and the JSA cannot stop him. Superman lands a haymaker of Aquarius, but that just gets him angry, and using Starman's rod to amplify his own magical powers, he lashes out at the Man of Steel. With Superman injured, Wonder Woman casts her lasso towards Starman's cosmic rod. However, Aquarius causes a heat wave so ferocious that the Amazon Princess must retreat to stay alive. Encouraged by Larry Lance, the remaining JSA members rush Aquarius together. Aquarius expended much energy in his last attack and needs to rest - but when he does, he vows to break through Dr Fate's protective shield and complete the work he has begun. However, he is unaware that Dr Fate did one more thing during the confusion of the last few moments - he sent Red Tornado to Earth-1 to return with the Justice League.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-73-1195630072.jpg?v=1759275600
yod-justice-league-of-america-74
Justice League of America #74

Grade: GOOD
Issue Number: 74
Release Date: 1969-07-24
Writer:
Artist:

The Justice Society of America are trapped within an ectoplasmic bubble created by Dr Fate - in order to sve themselves and Earth -2 from the menace of Aquarius! Aquarius has overcome Starman and stolen his cosmic rod - and this piece of equipment added to his own power have made him a threat to the entire universe! Aquarius has already sent Earth -2 to another dimensional plane, and should the Justice Society perish, then Earth -2 will die along with them! Now, thanks to the Red Tornado, the Justice League are about to arrive on the scene in "Where Death Fears to Tread!" Crossing the interspatial divide between dimensions, the JLA are on their way to try and rescue the Justice Society. As they travel, Green Lantern's attention is drawn to the anti-matter universe, which they pass close to and which itself may one day pose a threat to the universe. The League arrive just in time to stop Aquarius using all his remaining energy to destroy the JSA. Surprised at the arrival of other beings and not yet up to full strength, Aquarius flees, but not before he leaves the Justice Society members with a mental command. As the Justice League rush to greet thier friends, each one in turn is attacked by their JSA counterpart, who is now under the command of Aquarius. A monumental battle begins with the two Supermen going hammer and tongs at one another. Batman manages to overcome Dr Mid-Nite thanks to his infra-red lenses, while the Atom and the Flash team up to overcome Dr. Fate. Since Alan Scott's power ring ran out of juice days ago, it is a simole matter for Hal (Green Lantern) Jordan to capture his counterpart and then to concentrate his will power on finding Aquarius and have the stellar being return to the fray. Meanwhile, Black Canary finds herself glued to the floor by Green Arrows "gum" arrow, but the emerald archer is then jumped from behind by Larry Lance - husband of the Black Canary, who has been in on this case from the beginning. While all of this infighting is going on, Green Lantern's power beam has reached Aquarius. Aquarius fights back using Starman's cosmic rod, and builds as cosmic ball of power which he intends to fire back at Green Lantern. However, the space being has not mastered the use of the Cosmic Rod and the ball of power heads for the first person it can sense - the helpless Black Canary! Seeing his wife in trouble, the bold Larry Lance dives in front of her and takes the full impact of Aquarius' cosmic power ball - thus sacrificing his life for the sake of his wife. The sphere of power bursts and suddenly, all around them, the Justice Society sees their world return to normal - all apart from Black Canary - whose world will never be the same again. Alan Scott goes on a guilt trip, but Hal Jordan talks him round and the 2 GL's share Scott's oath as he recharges his ring. Superman of Earth-2 leads a ceremonial tribute to Larry Lance, but Aquarius appears on the scene. The space being taunts the superheroes, and as Wonder Woman comforts the grieving Black Canary, the rest of the JLA and JSA pursue Aquarius into deep space. The heroes recognise that Aquarius is now heading for Earth-1 and that he could destroy the very fabric of the universe. As Aquarius enters the cosmic gateway between the 2 earths, he leaves behind a space warp which traps the heoroes. However, the two Green Lanterns burst through and decide to go it alone against Aquarius. Passing the Anti matter universe the two heroes goad Aquarius. Using their power rings to create negative energy around themselves, they trick Aquarius into following them into the Negative universe, and as his positive matter touches the negative matter, Aquarius perishes in a huge explosion. Back on Earth-2, the heroes say their fare-wells, but Black Canary decides she can't stay on Earth-2 as it would be full of painful memories for her, and Superman welcomes her to Earth-1.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-74-1195630071.jpg?v=1759275599
b8l-justice-league-of-america-75
Justice League of America #75

Grade: VG
Issue Number: 75
Release Date: N/A
Writer:
Artist:

Moving to Earth -1 following the death of her husband Larry, Dinah (Black Canary) Lance wastes no time in proving her worth as a member of the Justice League as she demonstrates for the first time the power of her sonic cry. Searching for somewhere to belong, she finds a soul mate in Green Arrow, who has recently lost his fortune and is also looking for some kind of meaning. The story is told by Green Arrow and Black Canary. Oliver Queen, tricked out of his fortune (and for the first time in the JLA sporting new facial hair and new costume - first seen in Brave and Bold #85) stumbles upon a crime in progress. Changing to GA he thwarts the crime, but is about to discover, "In Each Man There is a demon!" Back at JLA Headquarters, the League are having a discussion about whether or not Black Canary should automatically become a member of the team. Superman is all in favour, the Atom very supportive, but Hawkman expresses reservations. Suddenly, frustrated that they are talking about her as if she is not there, the Black Canary releases what will become known as her sonic cry for the first time and sends the JLA flying! Meanwhile GA has gone to see a shrink to find out who he really is - Oliver Queen, business man, or Green Arrow - Crimefighter? Wired up to complex equipment, Oliver and the shrink are surprised to see a mystical form of GA emerging from Queen's body. The being announces that he is the REAL Green Arrow - the demon within Oliver Queen! Almost simultaneously, the JLA are running tests on Black Canary to see how she did what she just did. Seems some residue of Aquarius' power (see last issue) rubbed off on her and has awoken this dormant gift. Suddenly the rogue Green Arrow appears, and as the JLA attack, they too find mystical versions of themselves escaping from their bodies. Only Superman is not affected in this way, but as these beings are magical, they can easily overcome the Man of Steel! Turns out that only each hero can capture his or her own demonic counterpart, but the League are duped into believing they cannot fight themselves! Superman recognises he has to do something, and he tricks the JLA by getting a Superman robot to appear in the guise of one of the demons. Superman overcomes his "counterpart" and the JLA with renewed confidence set off to attack thier own "inner selves." Without much trouble, each member overcomes his/her demon - except Green Arrow. Finding his evil self robbing a jewellry store, GA allows the demon to fill his mind with doubts about his motives for crime fighting. Racked with guilt, GA drops his bow and arrow, just as the elderly jewellry store owners appear and appeal to his better nature. The first story in this issue is "Cosmic Fun House" from JLA #7. When honorary member "Snapper" Carr and his girlfirend Midge visit a new Fun House on the outskirts of Happy Harbor, they soon discover not all is as it seems! At first, the two youngsters are enthralled by the realistic pre-historic monsters and alien beings who seem to be sharing their surroundings. After a while, the pair come to a dead end, where they hear a pre-recorded voice telling them to push the wall for another out of this world experience! The excited teenagers push the wall together, and find they are literally having an "out of this world" experience! Somehow they have been transported to an alien world, and in no time a prehistoric looking beast heads for midge, but Snapper comes to the rescue with a well - aimed rock. Quickly realising he is totally out of his depth, Snapper reaches for his JLA emergency signal device. Flash, Batman, Green Arrow, Aquaman and Jonn Jonzz can't travel in space independently, so they all head for the JLA HQ. Meanwhile, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern head for the planet on which Snapper and Midge are trapped. As they arrive, they find Snapper manfully triyng to fight off all manner of creatures, and even the mountains - in which the youngsters have taken shelter - appear to have grown arms to grab them. Wonder Woman instantly disposes of a huge looking creature, hurling it half way across the planet with her magic lasso. Superman makes short work of a Pteradactyl-type creature, while Green Lantern handles the mountain creature and brings Snapper and Midge to safety. Back at JLA HQ, Snapper tells the full story. The JLA decide to investigate - but in their civillian identities - so as not to frighten off those responsible. While Superman takes Batman and Jonn Jonzz back to the planet Snapper and Midge werre on in order to rescue any other people who had been transported there and Aquaman (who at this point had no secret identity) remained at JLA HQ with Snapper, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Wonder Woman head for the fairground. In their early adventures, it was customary for Superman and Batman to play only a cameo role in the Justice League. Editor Julius Schwartz felt that the World's finest duo got enough expposure elsewhere in the DCU, and author Gardner Fox usually came up with a clever way of involving them in a way unseen by the reader (as here). Chapter 2 of the Cosmic Fun House beging with Barry (Flash) Allen retracing the steps of Snapper and Midge. Barry reaches that same dead end, but as he pushes the door, out from the other side steps another "Barry Allen!" Swiftly becoming the Flash, the Scarlet Speedster follows "himself" until a strong gravitational ray prevents him from moving. The pretend Barry (really an alien in disguise, stuns the Flash with an Iciray and takes him captive. Meanwhile, Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) is going through a part of the Fun House that make it appear as if the walls are closing in on you. However, this is merely an illusion and when Hal comes to the door to the other world, he too finds a duplicate of himself entering our world. Becoming invisible via his power ring, Hal follows "himself" until suddenly, he finds the walls really are closing in on him! The walls are yellow and so GL's ring cannot force them back! As GL gasps for air, the false Hal captures him with the Iciray. The false Hal then uses GL's signal device to call Green Arrow and Wonder Woman. Racing to the rescue, the duo are met by a sudden and blinding light. In the confusion an alien grabs Wonder Woman's magic lasso and captures the Amazon Princess and the Emerald Archer in one fell swoop. The four captured Justice League members find themselves faced by a pair of alien beings, and trapped within energy sapping spirals. The aliens explain that they are from the planet Angellax and that thousands of years ago they lost an inter-planetary war. The terms of their surrender meant that no weappons could be manufactured on Angellax. Instead, they built a powerful space-probe, which would roam the galaxies for centuries, finding all manner of weapons from around the cosmos so that one day they would be able to exact revenge upon their conquerors. The aliens then went into suspended animation until the time their space probe was due to return. That day had now come, but the aliens had made a miscalculation and the space probe was due to land on earth - in Happy Harbor. To ensure they could get it without arousing suspicion, they built the Fun House as a cover for their activities. As the aliens explain, the false "Flash" and "Green Lantern" are on their way to the JLA HQ to send the others on a wild goose chase. Once the team is assembled, the imposters tell the JLA that Xotar the Weapons Master is responsible for the Fun House, and suggest that the team led by Superman travels 10,000 years into the future to apprehend him. Meanwhile they and Aquaman will return to the Fun House and ensure no more earth people are transported away. At the start of chapter three, we find the trapped JLAers contemplating their dilemma. Hardly able to move, Green Arrow flilcks the tip of a boomerang arrow towards Wonder Woman's discarded lasso. Seeing what GA is intending, the Flash uses his hands to cause an updraft, which ensures the arrowhead reaches its target. Then, whirling his hand in another direction, Flash causes a vacuum and draws the lasso to Wonder Woman. With a skillful flick of her wrist, the Amazon princess releases Green Lantern from his trap. The Emerald Gladiator returns the favour and the free JLAers set off in pursuit of the aliens. Racing through a mysterious opening, the JLA believe they have just entered a hall of mirrors. But as Aquaman arrives, he sees that Green Arrow really is short and broad, Wonder Woman really is exceedingly Fat, Green Lantern does resemble Plastic Man and the Flash really is leaden footed! Meanwhile the aliens in thier guises as "Flash" and "Green Lantern" - along with many other aliens disguised as humans are taking their space probe in order to return to their own planet and start an intergalactic war. Aquaman leaps into action. Spinning the Flash by the arms, he gives the Scarlet Speedster the momentum he needs to bowl some of the aliens over. Then, raising Wonder Woman's arms to the right height, he enables her to toss her magic lasso and capture "Flash" and "Green Lantern". Next Aquaman helps Green Arrow to lie on his back and, using his feet to good effect, he fires off a number of well placed arrows. However, when it comes to Green Lantern, Aquaman finds his fellow JLA member has lost his memory. Not knowing his secret identity (no members did at this time save Superman and Batman), Aquaman has to think of something else. So in order to jog his memory, the Sea King begins reciting Green Lantern's oath. GL remembers the rest and his memory returns in time for him to mop up the rest of the aliens, retrurning them to their own world (minus space probe) and sending them into a 100,000 year sleep. GL then uses his ring to return our heroes to normal. As Superman, Batman and Jonn Jonzz return from their wild goose chase, everything is explained to them and the JLAers decide they need some relaxation time and where better than the fairground with their respective other halves? The second story in this issue is "The Last Case of the Justice League" from JLA #12. In the middle of a fishing contest in Happy Harbor, teenager Snapper Carr, who is an honorary member of the Justice League of America, responds to his JLA signal device, and speeds over to the secret sanctuary. However, instead of finding the Justice League waiting for him, he finds a man calling himself Dr. Light. Dr. Light claims to have done away with the Justice League for good, and he instructs Snapper to write down his every word as he tells his tale. Author Gardner Fox was keen to make his stories educational and entertaining, so he threw in a number of facts about various forms of light - and Dr Light claims to have mastered them all! Managing to capture Aquaman, and through him contact the JLAers. Dr Light explains how he used a special light projector to send each individual member of the Justice League to a world where he or she could not possibly survive. Therefore Aquaman is on a world without water, Martian Manhunter on a world of fire and Green Lantern on an all yellow world. Once Snapper has writted down every word, Light freezes him where he sits and goes off to obtain for himself momentos of light from the ancient, modern and medieval world. As we join chaper 2 of this story, things look bleak for the JLA. The Flash is on a world where he cannot keep his balance, Wonder Woman's body will noy obey her thoughts and Green Arrow is stuck on a world where his wooden bow and arrows stick to the floor. Superman meanwhile is on a planet under a red sun, rendering his powers useless. Before they responded to the JLA emergency signal, Superman and Batman were on a case together. Superman used his telescopic vision to see how light despatched the other JLA members and suggested that he and Batman change costumes on their way to face Dr Light. As a result Dr light has sent Batman to the world intended for Superman and vice-versa. Wasting no time, the Man of Steel uses his telescopic vision to locate the other JLA members and rescue them, starting with those in greatest danger, Jonn Jonzz and Aquaman. At the start of chapter 3, the League return to their headquarters, where an overjoyed Snapper tells them of Dr Light's plans. The JLA split into three teams, each one aiming to protect the artefacts Light intends to steal. Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Aquaman head off to protect the ancient "Colossus of Rhodes" statue, Batman, Flash and Jonn Jonzz are to protect the Heart of Light Diamond, while Superman and Wonder Woman are to protect the first light bulb invented by Thomas Edison. As the first team come across Dr Light, the villain attacks them with a spray of lightning. Green Lantern finds his power beam cannot effect Dr Light, Green Arrow draws the lightning away with a lightning rod arrow - but too late! Green Lantern is struck by lightning, and is suddenly gone without a trace. Aquaman and Green Arrow manage to overcome Light, but it is a sorry journey back to the secret sanctuary. Next, Batman, Flash and Jonn Jonzz come across (another?) Dr Light. Blinded by his powerful bolts, the trio seem helpless to stop Dr Light from commiting his robbery. However, the Flash runs around the room with Batman's Bat-rope and ensnares the villain, even though he cannot see him. Superman and Wonder Woman also encounter Dr. Light! With a Kryptonite light for Superman and an Aurora Borealis curtain for Wonder Woman, Dr Light makes off with Edison's light bulb. However, Wonder Woman's plane intercepts the Kryptonite light allowing Superman to rescue Wonder Woman and the heroes to capture Dr Light. Back at JLA HQ, the heroes assemble to find 3 Dr Lights - all of whom are mere mirages, sent to delay the JLA while the real Dr Light puts his final plans for world conquest into operation. As the mirages ghloat and fade away, the doom around the JLA turns to joy as none other than Green Lantern turns up with the real Dr Light! He hadn't perished in that fight after all, but had deduced he was fighting a mirage. Willing himself invisible, the Emerald Gladiator followed the light emanations with which Dr Light was controlling his mirages and captured the villain before he could complete his plans for world domination.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-76-1195630069.jpg?v=1759275591
psu-justice-league-of-america-80
Justice League of America #80

Grade: VG
Issue Number: 80
Release Date: N/A
Writer:
Artist:

When Hawkgirl is found floating still and lifeless, the League must prepare for what seems to be the end-times. The Flash, on monitor duty at the Justice League of America's satellite headquarters, speaks with his wife, Picture News reporter, Iris West Allen. An alarm alerts the Flash to the presence of the Hawkgirl, hurtling unconscious through space, outside the satellite. The Flash brings the Hawkgirl on board the satellite, then summons the Justice League of America. The Atom informs the team that the Hawkman, and the Hawkgirl, were taking the Atom's girlfriend, Jean Loring, to Thanagar, for medical treatment. The Hawkgirl seems to be in a trance. Superman heads to Thanagar, while the Batman, and the Green Arrow, start an investigation in Midway City. A emergency alert comes in, drawing the Flash, and the Atom, to the Grand Canyon. As if hypnotized, a group of boy scouts are walking towards the edge of the canyon. The Flash sets up a barrier of logs and stones, but one boy still manages to circumvent it. The Flash races to the bottom of the canyon and generates a wind break, at super-human speed, to catch the boy. The scout leader accuses a man on a broomstick, of being the culprit behind the scouts' near mindless condition. The Batman, and the Green Arrow, encounter the same broomstick riding man, a Thanagarian known as Norch Lor. After a brief scuffle, Lor subdues both the Batman, and the Green Arrow. Lor returns to his spacecraft to effect repairs on the "Gehenna Box", an ancient soul-stealing artifact, which was damaged in the fight. Superman finds the Hawkman's spaceship, falling into a neutron star. With a herculean effort, the Man of Steel manages to push the craft out of the neutron's star's crushing gravity field. Near exhaustion, Superman is rendered unconscious by an emerald beam. The Black Canary continues to practice focusing her new-found power. The Batman, and the Green Arrow, return to the satellite. Nor approaches the satellite, then opens a hole in the hull, to gain entry. The Black Canary seals the hull breech, before explosive decompression hurls the heroes into space. Lor opens the Gehenna Box, stealing the souls of the Batman, the Black Canary, and the Green Arrow. The Green Lantern of Earth is brought to Oa, then dispatched, by the Guardians of the Universe, to render aid to Superman. Tomar Re, the Green Lantern of Xudar, has mistakenly taken out the Man of Steel, believing Superman to have been a threat. The misunderstanding cleared up, Superman, and the Green Lanterns, board the Hawkman's vessel. They find the Hawkman, and Loring, in the same state as the Hawkgirl. Playing back the ship's log, Superman, and the Green Lanterns, learn of Lor's attack on the Hawkman, the Hawkgirl, and Loring. Their souls now trapped in the Gehenna Box. Lor believes the universe is coming to an end, and thus is on a mission to collect, and preserve, as many souls as he can. When Lor departed the vessel, the Hawkgirl was drawn into space, eventually drifting past the Justice League of America's satellite headquarters. While Tomar Re guards the Hawkman's vessel, Superman, and the Green Lantern, continue on to Thanagar. In some inexplicable fashion, the Black Canary's sonic scream prevented the Gehenna Box from claiming her soul.The Black Canary attacks Lor, just as the Flash, and the Atom, are returning to the satellite. The Atom subdues Lor. During the melee, the Gehenna Box is accidentally hurled into space. The Atom, at great risk to himself, successfully retrieves the Gehenna Box, nearly succumbing to the airless void of space. The destruction of the twin Earths will provide the raw material to create a new, more perfect world. Believing herself to be the link that is drawing the two worlds together, the Black Canary contemplates suicide. Due to their continued interference in the alien's scheme, the Justice Society of America are targeted for elimination. Already, three of their members have fallen. The aliens launch a full scale assault on the Justice Society of America's headquarters. Automated snare nets, designed to counter each individual member's powers, descend on the team. Starman is the first to fall, followed by the Golden Age Wonder Woman and the Hourman. The Justice League of America debate whether to allow the Black Canary to sacrifice her life to save two worlds. The Green Lantern suggests transporting the Black Canary to a different parallel Earth, to sever her link to Earth-1 and Earth-2. The Green Lantern encounters a rift in the dimensional void between Earth-1 and Earth-2. Within the rift, poised precisely between the two Earths, is the Red Tornado. Before the Green Lantern can reach the Red Tornado, the rift alters position, cutting the Green Lantern off. The parallel dimensions momentarily brush together. For a few fleeting seconds, the populace of Earth-1 come face-to-face with their parallel counterparts. A panic ensues. The Hawkman rescues an old woman from certain death. Suddenly, the Hawkman finds himself choking and immobilized. As the Hawkman's parallel counterpart falls on Earth-2, so, too, does the Hawkman fall on Earth-1. The snare nets trap the Golden Age Green Lantern in a wooden cage. At that same moment, his counterpart also feels as if he has been imprisoned. With the Green Lantern long overdue, the Justice League of America is left with a mere half hour to decide the fate of the Black Canary, and the two Earths. With the Justice Society of America all but fallen, Doctor Fate teleports, with Johnny Thunder and the Thunderbolt, to a distant cemetery. There, Doctor Fate summons the Spectre. While the Spectre physically places himself between the parallel Earths, Doctor Fate, Johnny Thunder and the Thunderbolt storm the aliens' ship. Exhausted from his efforts, Doctor Fate leaves the Thunderbolt to battle the aliens alone. When the tide begins to turn against the Thunderbolt, however, Doctor Fate rallies. With a herculean effort, Doctor Fate taps the very forces of creation to destroy the aliens' vessel. The parallel dimensions pull apart, rending the Spectre asunder. The commander of the alien vessel, Theo Zappa, triggers an underwater avalanche, to prevent Aquaman from disabling the ship. On the verge of unconsciousness, Aquaman activates his emergency distress signal, summoning the Justice League of America. Zappa, known as the Zapper, rose to fame, and fortune, by stealing an invention that first erases, then rewrites memories. Zappa had the device miniaturized, and weaponized. One night, Pajna Darr, an alien from the planet Kalyarna, appeared before Zappa. Due to pollutants, the plankton population of Kalyarna's oceans were nearing depletion. The absence of such a vital link in the food chain had the civilization of Kalyarna teetering on the brink of ruin. Darr offered Zappa anything he desired in exchange for the Earth's plankton. Zappa used the memory gun to rewrite Darr's memories, garnering the alien's power wand. Zappa then embarked on a scheme to steal the Earth's plankton for himself, for use as a blackmail bargaining chip against both Earth and Kalyarna. On the road "searching for America", the Green Arrow, and the Green Lantern, ignore Aquaman's distress signal. The rest of the Justice League of America, though, soon rallies to Aquaman's side. Aquaman explains the crisis, and the dire consequences facing the planet. Aquaman, and Superman, return to the sea, to search for the plankton stealing ship. The Atom, and the Batman, seek out Zappa. The Flash, and the Hawkman, return to the Justice League of America's satellite headquarters. Superman locates the receiving station for the plankton plundering vessels. En route, Superman must pacify two sperm whales, agitated over the sudden loss of food. Spying Aquman's approach, Zappa releases the plankton back into the sea, driving the fish in the sea into a feeding frenzy, centered on Aquaman. Due to their great hunger, the fish refuse to obey Aquaman's telepathic commands to disperse. Superman saves Aquaman from being crushed to death by thousands of starving fish. Zappa uses the power wand to conjure a school of jellyfish. Their mystic nature proves overwhelming for Superman. Aquaman, however, is able to easily best the threat. Aquaman, and Superman, are too late, however, to stop Zappa from teleporting the plankton off Earth. Using the satellite's scanners, the Flash locates Zappa's ship. The Hawkman, with the Flash, pursue Zappa, in the Hawkman's spacer. Zappa uses the power wand to neutralize the radiation shield surrounding the Hawkman's vessel. Undeterred, the Hawkman manages to dock with Zappa's ship. Zappa, however, teleports away, with the plankton. The Atom, and the Batman, discover Darr, in Zappa's laboratory. Zappa's memory gun only had a temporary effect on Darr's alien brain. The Atom repairs Darr's equipment, then teleports, with Darr, and the Batman, to Kalyarna. In gratitiude for replenishing the plankton in Kalyarna's oceans, Zappa is now the ruler of the planet. The Atom, and the Batman, storm Zappa's palace, and subdue Zappa. The attack on their monarch spurs the populace to riot. The Justice League of America arrives. Superman addresses the Kalyarnans. Superman reveals Zappa's self-serving criminality, then assures the populace that the Justice League of America will restore their planet's ecology. It's up to the Kalyarnans, however, to enact measures to preserve their planets' ecosystem. An action the populace of the Earth would be wise to follow.
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1064/5512/files/dc-comics-comics-justice-league-of-america-86-1195630065.jpg?v=1759275481
wpj-justice-league-of-america-61
Justice League of America #61

Grade: VG
Issue Number: 61
Release Date: N/A
Writer:
Artist:

Doctor Destiny has a plan to switch the heroes with the villains they battle! The Green Arrow resigns from the Justice League of America. Furthermore, he advises the team to abandon their costumed crime fighting careers. The Green Arrow also hints that he is in jeopardy, but demands that none interfere or aid him. The Justice League of America fiercely debate the issue, but ultimately decide to heed the Green Arrow's wishes. Secretly, each member of the Justice League of America decides to impersonate the Green Arrow, to lure the danger to themselves. Only Wonder Woman abandons the idea, once she realizes she could never pass for a male. The Batman, disguised as the Green Arrow, encounters the Penguin. From the sound of his voice alone, the Penguin realizes that the "Green Arrow" is really the Batman. The Penguin defeats the Batman. Then, the Penguin becomes the "Green Arrow", as the "Green Arrow" becomes the Penguin. J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, disguised as the Green Arrow, encounters Doctor Light. Each disguised as the Green Arrow. Each encountering one of their old foes. Each being defeated and replaced by said foe. Millionaire philanthropist, Oliver Queen, the true Green Arrow, reads the news with growing concern. Having recently learned the Atom's secret identity, that of physicist, Ray Palmer, Queen travels to Ivy Town. Queen bears witness to a battle between the Atom, disguised as the Green Arrow, and his nemesis, the Plant Master. Queen waits until the Atom has been defeated, and swapped places with the Plant Master, before he acts. Taking up the bow and arrow the Atom had been using, Queen fires on the "Green Arrow", knocking him out. Queen then turns off the device the "Green Arrow" was carrying. Immediately, the members of the Justice League of America, incarcerated in prisons across the country, as their foes, resume their normal appearances. Queen sends out an emergency summons, to gather the Justice League of America at the Secret Sanctuary. Queen addresses the team, thus revealing his secret identity to his comrades. Queen, as the Green Arrow, had encountered Doctor Destiny. Using his materioptikon, Doctor Destiny exchanged appearances with the Green Arrow. "Doctor Destiny" was taken back to jail. The next day, "Doctor Destiny" resumed his appearance as the Green Arrow. The Green Arrow raced to the Secret Sanctuary, hoping to catch Doctor Destiny posing as the Green Arrow. Not seeing himself among their ranks, the Green Arrow realized that Doctor Destiny was posing as a different member of the team. To not give the game away, the Green Arrow resigned, and issued his veiled warnings. Doctor Destiny summons the actual villains he impersonated, when he exchanged identities with the individual members of the Justice League of America. Mister I.Q. squares off against the Hawkman. The Penguin confronts the Batman. Captain Boomerang targets the Flash. Doctor Light draws on J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars. Lex Luthor threatens Superman. Cutlass Charlie fires on Aquaman. The Tattooed Man engages the Green Lantern. The Plant Master throws a potted plant at the Atom. Doctor Destiny conjured demons to battle the Green Arrow, Wonder Woman and Snapper Carr. An epic battle ensues, with the Justice League of America constantly switching opponents. Ultimately, the heroes are triumphant. The Green Arrow reveals that Doctor Destiny was impersonating the Atom, at the Justice League of America meeting. A fact that also garnered suspicion in the Hawkman, as the Atom was the first to arrive in the Secret Sanctuary that day. As the Atom travels to the Secret Sanctuary via phone line, the Hawkman had wondered who had answered the phone, to allow the Atom access to the Secret Sanctuary. In 1945, a man was thrown from a motor boat into the waters of Lake Michamaw. This man drowned, desperately clinging to an iron box. Twenty-three years later, the iron box is accidentally recovered by a fisherman. The contents of the box prove ruinous to two men, industrial engineer, Harold Loomis, and famed archaeologist, Homer Gridley. Loomis is revealed to actually be the son of notorious mobster, Leo Locke. Gridley is revealed to have forged several of his "discoveries". The revelation of Loomis' true lineage puts him in the sights of the Bulleteers, who mark Loomis for execution. To discern the identity of the informer, who revealed the contents of the iron box to the media, both Loomis and Gridley shoot at the editor of the local paper, Marley Thorne. News of the attack on Thorne is quick to reach his brother-in-law, police scientist, Barry Allen. Allen decides to investigate the matter, as the Flash. News of a bank robbery, by the criminal gang called the Pryotekniks, reaches the Justice League of America. The Justice League of America confront the Pyrotekniks. The Pyrotekniks unleash their fireworks-firearms on the Justice League of America. The multi-hued lights of the fireworks-firearms have a myriad of effects on the Justice League of America. The Hawkman's wings are incapacitated. The Green Lantern's will power is disrupted, causing the Atom and the Batman to fall. The Flash rescues the Atom, the Batman, and the Green Lantern from their deadly plummet. The Flash, though, takes a barrage from the fireworks-firearms, immobilizing him. The Hawkman drops down on the Pyrotekniks. His attack gives the Justice League of America a chance to rally, and turn the tide of battle. The Pyrotekniks are brought to justice. Locke is revealed to be the leader of the Pyrotekniks. Furthermore, Locke is the informant who provided the contents of the iron box to the media. That information, however, has placed Locke's son, Loomis, in deadly peril. Locke begs the Justice League of America to save his son, from the wrath of the Bulleteers. The Hawkman uses his thermotector to track Loomis and Gridley to a cavern, outside the city limits. The Bulleteers had also discovered Loomis' whereabouts, but flee the scene when the Justice League of America arrive. The Justice League of America track the Bulleteers to their hidden fortress headquarters. After barely surviving a series of booby traps, the Justice League of America confront "Bullets" Jameson, and his Bulleteers. An explosive=laden booby trap fells the Justice League of America. The Bulleteers are about to execute the Justice League of America, when Loomis and Gridley get the drop on them. Though outnumbered, Loomis and Gridley aim their guns at Jameson, himself, to coerce the mob boss into surrender. The Green Lantern melts all of the guns with his power ring. With the Justice League of America recovered, the Bulleteers are taken into custody. Neverwas, a gigantic, sentient amoeba, travels from the distant past to present day Midway City. Panic in the streets draws the attention of the Hawkman. Enamored with the city lights, Neverwas, quite innocently, begins creating chaos. The Hawkman engages Neverwas, only to be beaten into unconsciousness. The Hawkman brings the Justice League of America in on the case. Remembering it's power to open gateways through time, Neverwas projects a motel into the distant past. Aquaman is overwhelmed by the twin creatures, and sealed inside an underwater cavern. Aquaman telepathically summons a giant squid to release him from his underwater tomb, then signals the Green Lantern. One Neverwas returns to the surface, while the second remains below the sea. The Jest-Master nears Thanagar. The Hawkman, and the Atom, are also en route to Thanagar. THe Atom's girlfriend, Jean Loring, is hopelessly insane. Loring is being brought to Thanagar for treatment. Thanagarian defenses fire on the Hawkman's ship. After identifying himself, the Hawkman docks at the outpost. Thanagarian law enforcement officers, clearly deranged, attack the Hawkman, and the Atom. The strange madness afflicting the outpost proves contagious. Soon, the Atom, and the Hawkman, are locked in mortal combat with each other. On board the Hawkman's vessel, Norch Lor, a Thanagarian criminal escapes his restraints. Lor is the only man aware of the coming of the Jest-Master. Only Lor knows of the Jest-Master's ruinous effect on planetary populations. In a misguided attempt to save Thanagar, Lor had stolen the Gehnna Box, an ancient soul stealing artifact. Lor had intended to preserve the souls of Thanagar within the Gehenna Box, saving them from the Jest-Master's destructive influence. While testing the Gehenna Box on Earth, Lor was apprehended. Lor sends out a distress signal from the Hawkman's vessel. The signal is received by the Guardians of the Universe, who forward it to the Green Lantern of Earth. In turn, the Green Lantern passes the distress signal on to the Justice League of America's satellite headquarters, where it is received by the Black Canary. The Black Canary summons the Justice League of America, who depart for the Thanagarian outpost. The team arrives just in time to stop the Hawkman from killing the Atom. Enraged, the Hawkman throws himself against Superman, knocking himself out. On board the Hawkman's vessel, Lor attacks, and is subdued by, the Batman. Loring, her sanity seemingly restored, warns the Justice League of America to leave the outpost. Lor reveals his knowledge of the Jest-Master. Outside of the Jest-Master's influence, the Hawkman and the Atom regain their sanity. Strangely, Loring loses hers again. The Flash volunteers to enter the Jest-Master's sphere of influence, to learn what the team is up against. The Flash barely survives the experience with his sanity intact. Realizing that Loring's sanity seems to be restored by exposure to the Jest-Master's sphere of influence, the Justice League of America drafts Loring to lead their assault. The Atom protests, but relents upon realizing the team has no other choice. The Justice League of America is completely incapacitated by the journey through the Jest-Master's sphere of influence. Loring, however, makes it to the Jest-Master's inner sanctum unscathed. The Atom confronts the Jest-Master. Decades ago, the Jest-Master's civilization was wiped out by a plague that drove it's populace insane. Only the Jest-Master, and a few others, proved immune to the plague. Now the Jest-Master travels the universe, spreading the plague to other worlds, in the hopes of finding the one world that can cure it. On that world, the Jest-Master will begin a new life. Rapidly changing his height, the Atom attempts to unnerve the Jest-Master. Fearing that he has finally succumbed to the plague, the Jest-Master lashes out at the Atom. The Jest-Master commands his minions to execute the Atom, but the Flash disarms them. Loring has revived the Justice League of America. The team quickly defeats the Jest-Master, and his minions.
